What you say when you don’t have a script is equally as important as when you do. The ability to speak clearly and concisely to casting directors, agents, large groups, and during interviews, makes and leaves a lasting impression about who you are what it would be like to work with you. In this 4-week series, John Watkis will help you build your foundation for public speaking so that what you say and how you say it leave a positive impression and increase your know/like/trust factor. 

What We Will Cover:

  • Learn how to craft stories that make people lean in and listen on the edge of their seats
  • Sort out what content to put in, leave out, and how to organize so  that it’s  easy to follow and remember
  • Radiate stage presence through non verbal communication
  • Avoid distracting habits that take away from your message
  • Carly and confidently respond in unplanned speaking situations without rambling 
  • Use vocal variety to capture and keep attention
  • Demystify how to time and adjust content even if your time is cut short
  • How to draw them in with your opening and leave them wanting more with your close
  • Calm your nerves so you can speak confidently
  • Identify and sidestep common pitfalls when using visual aids
  • Understand how and when to use the pillars of persuasion when you speak

John Watkis is a professional entertainer with a solid background in speechwriting and stage performance. He was the first Canadian-born actor to play “Mufasa” in the Disney musical, “The Lion King.” He is an international speaker, speechwriter, and public speaking coach who helps high-performing athletes, artists, actors, and executives find their rhythm when they get up to speak.

John’s been in the speaking and coaching business for over 20 years. In addition to delivering keynote speeches and workshops in six countries and on three continents, he has written speeches for corporations, government officials, non-profits, professional speakers, and hall of fame athletes.
